Functions

Reports and circulars

We issue circulars and reports on energy regulations and we respond to queries related to regulations for the agents involved.

Electricity market

We oversee the functioning and level of competition in the electricity market, within the scope of the wholesale market (MIBEL in Spanish) and retail market, and we supervise operation of the system.

We oversee the functioning and level of competition in the natural gas market, within the scope of the wholesale market (MIBGAS in Spanish) and retail market, and we supervise technical management of the system.

Petroleum and biofuels market

We oversee the evolution of prices for fuels and access to the logistical network, and we manage the biofuel certification system.

Settlements and economic regimen

We manage the settlement system for natural gas and electricity as well as the specific compensation regimen. We produce reports on compensation for the regulated activities and infrastructure access fees.

REMIT

We oversee the integrity and transparency of the wholesale energy markets.

Disputes, inspections, and sanctions

We perform audits in relation to the obligations of the agents operating in the energy markets, and process sanctioning cases for non-compliances. We also resolve disputes between agents.

Energy consumers

We publish guides and practical recommendations on the functioning of the markets, the energy offer Comparison Tool, the Bill Simulator for electricity, and procedures for changing suppliers.
