We supervise the degree and effectiveness of the opening and competition in the natural gas market, including the level of wholesale prices and competition in the retail natural gas market.
We analyze the evolution of the natural gas market in Spain and, in addition, issue an annual report to the European Commission on the situation of the electricity and gas market in Spain.
Wholesale gas market
We supervise the organized gas market (MIBGAS) and analyze its degree of liquidity, transparency, and level of competition.
We monitor the wholesale gas market at the national and international levels, which is compiled monthly in a Wholesale Market and Gas Supply Supervision Report. In this report, we provide information on international gas markets (including LNG) and the gas market in Spain, monitoring demand, stocks, international gas flows, and wholesale market prices.
We also collect information on the monthly evolution of natural gas supply to the Spanish market and the degree of supply diversification.

Retail gas market
We supervise the degree and effectiveness of the market opening and competition in the retail natural gas market, as well as the functioning of the retail market, supply to the final consumer, and the last resort supply activity.
In our quarterly reports, we collect the most significant data on the evolution of the retail natural gas market in Spain, as well as the market shares of different business groups, by sales volume and number of customers.
We analyze the evolution of the retail natural gas market in each Autonomous Community, including the evolution of gas demand, the number of customers, and the evolution of market shares of different suppliers, both in terms of sales and number of customers.

Technical management of the gas system
Quarterly, we collect information on the technical management of the gas system, gas entries and exits, system balance, stock levels, operation, and maintenance of transport facilities.
We participate in the working group of the Gas System Monitoring Committee (CSSG) and hold its secretariat. The purpose of this committee is to develop proposals for the review and modification of the technical management rules of the system.

We publish and keep updated a list of suppliers that notify the competent administration of the start of their activity.
We also manage a list of supplier companies (PDF) with their respective customer service phone numbers and website addresses, specifying which are the last resort suppliers.
